Talk about an unreliable narrator... Of course, the characters all have their own quirks and unexpected behaviors but I find it even funnier when the narrator plays along. There were many moments I had to reread because I had a hard trouble believing Yossarian really did that, for example. One of my favorite moments is Miles gaining a celebrity status and constructing a globalized food empire amidst the war. I really enjoyed getting to know the band of brothers within Yossarian's group and was very amused by how insubordinate they can be to their superiors.

Some quotes I enjoyed:

It was neither possible nor necessary to educate people who have never questioned anything.
History did not demand Yossarian's premature demise, justice could not be satisfied without it, progress did not hinge upon it, victory did not depend on it. That men would die was a matter of necessity; which men would die, though, was a matter of circumstance, and Yossarian was willing to be the victim of anything but circumstance. But that was war. Just about all he could find in its favor was that it paid well and liberated children from the pernicious influence of their parents.

You see? You have no respect for excessive authority or obsolete traditions. You're dangerous and depraved, and you ought to be taken outside and shot!
You're antagonistic to the idea of being rnobbed, exploited, degraded, humiliated, or deceived. Misery depresses you. Ignorance depresses you. Persecution depresses you. Violence depresses you. Slums depress you. Greed depresses you. You know, it wouldn't surprise me if you're a manic-depressive.
Imagine a man his age risking what little life he has left for something so absurd as a country.
